Xavier (19-7) at Saint Louis (18-8)

GAME NOTES: The Xavier Musketeers take aim at a fifth consecutive 20-win season when they visit Chaifetz Arena to take on the Saint Louis Billikens in an Atlantic 10 Conference clash.

Xavier has won three straight and seven of its last eight games to improve to 19-7 overall and 10-2 in league play. As a result, the Musketeers have moved into a tie for second place in the A-10 standings with 20th-ranked Temple at 10-2. Their last three victories have all been by double digits, including Saturday's 81-67 triumph at Charlotte.

Meanwhile, the Billikens have won six straight league games, which marks their longest A-10 win streak since claiming eight in a row during the 2002-03 season. At 18-8 overall and 9-3 in league play, Saint Louis is just a game back of Xavier in the standings. The Billikens have won 14 of 15 at home this season.

Xavier has won four straight meetings with Saint Louis to take a 25-12 edge in the all-time series.

Sophomore guard Jordan Crawford racked up a game-high 23 points in Xavier's win at Charlotte on Saturday. The Musketeers shot a solid 52 percent from the floor, while holding the 49ers to 36.5 percent. Jamel McLean recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Terrell Holloway and Jason Love joined them in double figures with 13 and 10 points, respectively. The Musketeers boast the A-10's top scoring offense (79.7 ppg) and are out-scoring foes by an average of 11.5 ppg this season. Crawford leads the league in scoring with 19.7 ppg and he has scored in double figures in 22 straight games. McLean has really picked up his play over the last five outings, shooting an ultra-efficient 64.7 percent from the field while averaging 11.4 points and 10.2 rebounds. Love (11.4 ppg), the only senior on the squad, leads the Musketeers in rebounding (8.4 rpg) and blocked shots (1.7 bpg). Holloway is registering 11.0 ppg on the year.

Leading the way for Saint Louis is sophomore guard Kwamain Mitchell, who has started all 25 games and is averaging 15.8 ppg. Down low is Willie Reed, a 55 percent shooter from the floor who tallies 11.8 points and a team-best 8.2 boards per outing. Freshman Cody Ellis has played in only 12 games (nine starts), but he has quickly put his stamp on the program with 11.6 points and 5.8 caroms per contest. He also flashes some range, having knocked down 30- of-76 (.395) three-pointers. The Billikens are coming off a 69-56 win at Massachusetts on Sunday, in which they held the Minutemen to 39.3 percent shooting from the floor. Kyle Cassity led Saint Louis with 16 points, while Ellis and Reed scored 14 apiece, and Mitchell finished with 11.

This matchup figures to have heavy seeding implications for the upcoming Atlantic 10 Tournament. Both teams have been hot lately, but Saint Louis has been nearly unbeatable at home this season. Look for the winner to possibly crack the Top-25 next week.
