College of Charleston (19-9) at Wofford (21-8)

GAME NOTES: First place in the Southern Conference's South Division is at stake when the Wofford Terriers host the College of Charleston Cougars at Benjamin Johnson Arena. The winner will clinch a tie for the division title heading into the weekend and the conclusion of the regular season.

The Cougars come into tonight's game with a three-game-game winning streak after an 85-83 non-conference win at George Mason in their last game. There have been some anxious moments of late however, as the three wins were by a total of just six points. College of Charleston has won six of its last seven and stands at 19-9 overall and shares first place in SoCon's South Division with the Terriers at 13-3. The Cougars are a respectable 6-7 on the road.

Wofford has been hot since the calendar turned to 2010. The Terriers' 82-76 win at Georgia Southern on Saturday was their eighth straight and 13th in their last 14 starts. They stand at 21-8 overall and are 9-1 on their homecourt.

The Cougars edged the Terriers 70-68 in the first meeting of the year on January 22nd in Charleston. Wofford leads the all-time series 72-61, but College of Charleston has won 13 of the previous 16 meetings.

Tony White Jr. scored 25 points for the Cougars in their win on Saturday. Jeremy Simmons recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Andrew Goudelock added 15 points. The Cougars secured the victory only after George Mason had a game-tying basket wiped out by a charging call as time expired. Goudelock is second in the conference in scoring at 19.2 ppg, hitting 46.7 percent from the floor, 38.3 percent from long range and 78.0 percent from the foul line. Goudelock also leads the Cougars in minutes played and is seventh in the conference in assists at 3.9 apg. Donavan Monroe is averaging 12.4 ppg, while hitting 43.6 percent from the floor. Jeremy Simmons provides 12.3 ppg and is second in the conference in rebounding at 8.1 boards per contest. White rounds out the top scoring threats at 11.7 ppg. The Cougars are averaging 74.8 ppg and shoot 46.1 percent from the floor overall. The Cougars have done an excellent job taking care of the basketball, averaging just 11.4 turnovers per contest.

Noah Dahlman scored 21 points to lead the Terriers to their win on Saturday. Jamar Diggs added 15 points, while Junior Salters, Brad Loesing and Tim Johnson each tallied 11 points. The Terriers shot 46.8 percent from the floor and held the Eagles to a woeful 29.5 shooting percentage. Dahlman leads the club in scoring at 17.3 ppg, good for fourth in the Southern Conference. He's shooting 58.3 percent from the floor and 68.5 percent from the foul line and is the only player on the roster scoring in double figures; Diggs is next on the scoring list at 9.8 ppg. Johnson is fifth in the conference in rebounding at 7.6 rpg, while Dahlman is seventh in the SoCon at 6.4 boards per contest. Wofford shoots 43.9 percent from the floor, while averaging 69.6 ppg. The Terriers are allowing just 61.6 ppg defensively and have been particularly effective defending against the three-point shot, as opponents are shooting just 31.6 percent from outside the arc.

The Cougars' instincts for protecting the basketball will give them an edge in what could be a preview of the conference championship game.
