Long Beach State (13-14) at UC Davis (11-15)

GAME NOTES: The Aggies of UC Davis shoot for back-to-back wins for the first time since early January as they suit up against the Long Beach State 49ers in a Big West Conference battle at the Pavilion tonight.

The Aggies, who are an even 6-6 in conference, took a break from the Big West grind over the weekend to challenge Boise State and captured an 82-74 victory at Taco Bell Arena in the process. The win snapped a brief two-game slide for a squad that is just 3-10 in true road games in 2009-10.

As for the 49ers, they too confronted a member of the Western Athletic Conference over the weekend and posted a 77-66 win at Idaho. The decision snapped a two-game slide by the Beach.

LBSU has won nine of the last 10 meetings, including an 80-58 triumph on January 30th at home against the Aggies, which means the 49ers now own a 10-2 edge in the all-tine series.

T.J. Robinson erupted for 22 points and 15 rebounds, both of which were game highs, as he and the 49ers took care of Idaho at the Cowan Spectrum by 11 points last weekend. Casper Ware, who made all 10 of his free-throw attempts, tossed in 20 points, followed by Greg Plater and Larry Anderson with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Robinson (15.3 ppg), Anderson (12.0 ppg) and Ware (11.4 ppg) are all sophomores, which means even if the team falls short of expectations this year there will be plenty of experienced performers ready to go after the prize again next season and beyond. Robinson leads the team on the glass with his 10.3 ppg, but his 55.4 percent accuracy at the charity stripe could use some improvement and the same can be said for Ware who is hitting only 37.9 percent from the floor. But like Robinson, Ware picks up the pace in other areas, specifically with his team-high 139 assists.

Dominic Calegari led three players in double figures for the Aggies as he dropped in a game-high 26 points in the win versus Boise State on the road last Saturday night. Not to be overlooked was Joe Harden with his 24 points and nine rebounds, while Ryan Sypkens accounted for 11 points as he made good on 3-of-4 tries from behind the three-point line. UC Davis finished the contest shooting 50.9 percent from the field and 8-of-14 out on the perimeter, compared to only 7-of-24 for the home team. Calegari, a 52.9 percent shooter from the field this season, has also made good on 43.3 percent of his long- range shots and is coming up with a team-best 16.6 ppg, in addition to finding time and opportunity to clear better than five rebounds per game. Harden (14.1 ppg) steps up with 7.1 rpg, which is a clear indication that he plays better in the paint than he does the outside where he has converted just 2-of-29 (.241) chances.

Calegari is someone who can play both on the inside and out on the perimeter, but he'll need to get help from his teammates if the Aggies are to have a shot at picking up the win against LBSU tonight.
