Oregon State (12-14) at U-C-L-A (12-14)

GAME NOTES: The UCLA Bruins welcome the Oregon State Beavers to historic Pauley Pavilion for a Pac-10 Conference tussle.

Oregon State carried a modest two-game win streak into last Saturday's matchup with Stanford, but that game resulted in a 65-55 loss in front of the home crowd. The Beavers now must invade enemy territory, and that isn't good news considering the fact that they are just 3-8 in true road affairs this year. Oregon State is 12-14 overall and 6-8 in conference.

As for UCLA, it has lost three of its last four games to drop to 12-14 overall and 7-7 in league play. The Bruins were completely embarrassed last Saturday in a 97-68 loss at Washington, and they are undoubtedly happy to be back home where nine of their wins have come.

UCLA recorded a 62-52 victory over Oregon State last month, and the Bruins own an 86-33 lead in the all-time series.

Calvin Haynes is the leading scorer for Oregon State with 13.2 ppg, and Seth Tarver is the team's only other double-digit scorer with his 10.7 ppg. The Beavers have been solid at the defensive end of the floor this season, limiting opponents to 61.1 ppg on 42.5 percent shooting. Unfortunately, they have struggled offensively, generating a modest 60.2 ppg through 26 outings. In the recent loss to Stanford, Haynes poured in 21 points in 34 minutes of action, and Tarver added 10 points. Unfortunately, the Beavers' 40.7 percent shooting effort from the floor wasn't good enough. They were outshot, outrebounded and outscored from the foul line by the Cardinal.

Overall this season, UCLA is averaging 66.9 ppg while yielding 68.5 ppg to its opponents. Michael Roll continues to pace the Bruins in scoring with 13.6 ppg, and he is a 44.1 percent shooter from three-point range. More than just a scorer, Roll is also handing out 3.6 apg. Malcolm Lee checks in with 12.1 ppg, and Nikola Dragovic provides 11.7 ppg. Reeves Nelson (11.0 ppg) recently had eye surgery, and it remains to be seen if he will be in action this evening. Nelson scored 14 points against Washington in Saturday's ugly defeat, and Dragovic added 13 points. Brendan Lane posted 11 points for the Bruins, who turned the ball over 18 times and permitted the Huskies to shoot 59.3 percent from the field.

The edge goes to UCLA in what should be a close game from start to finish. Neither team has the firepower to pull away from most opponents.
