GAME NOTES: The Brown Bears try for their first three-game win streak since late November as they clash with the Harvard Crimson in Ivy League action tonight at Lavietes Pavilion.
Brown, which is currently 4-6 in conference, has won two in a row and three of its last four overall. Last Saturday, the squad topped Princeton on the road in a 57-54 final.
As for the Crimson, they've tallied four wins in their last five decisions, thanks to a 77-57 victory over Columbia last weekend. At 7-3, Harvard trails only the Tigers and Cornell in the Ivy League standings at the moment.
With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, Harvard holds an 87-74 edge. The Crimson logged an 81-67 victory on February 13th at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Matt Mullery made good on all seven of his free-throw attempts, the team as a whole 18-of-19 at the charity stripe, as the Bears picked up the win over Princeton last weekend. Mullery finished with a team-best 15 points and cleared eight rebounds before fouling out, while Peter Sullivan and Tucker Halpern checked in with 13 and 12 points, respectively, as well. Mullery (15.3 ppg) and Sullivan (12.3 ppg) have been fixtures at the free-throw line this season and both are on the cusp of posting their 100th conversion at the stripe and that has helped the unit to make good on 72.0 percent at the line on the season. Not only is Mullery the top scorer for the team, but he is first on the glass (6.4 rpg), in assists (72) and blocked shots (41) as well.
Shooting 55.6 percent from the field, including 8-of-13 behind the three-point line, in the first half the Crimson had little trouble putting away a visiting Columbia squad last Saturday by 20 points. Oliver McNally tallied 23 points off the bench, leading four players in double figures as he paced Jeremy Lin (11 points, six rebounds, five assists) and both Kyle Casey and Dee Giger who delivered 10 points apiece. Lin, who many consider to be one of the top performers in the Ivy League this season, is shooting 51.9 percent from the floor on his way to a team-best 16.8 ppg. But more than a scorer, Lin is also first on the unit with his 108 assists and 60 steals and is second in blocked shots and third in rebounding (4.2 rpg). When not in foul trouble, Casey is out there coming up with 10.6 ppg and 5.6 rpg of his own and has made good on better than 80 percent of his free-throw chances.
Lin is someone who can carry a team on his back, but with a little help from his teammates he won't have to tonight against the Bears.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
