Akron (21-8) at Bowling Green (14-13)

GAME NOTES: With a first-round bye already secured the Akron Zips will try to keep pace with Kent State in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference when they take on the Bowling Green Falcons this afternoon at Anderson Arena.

Akron is currently 11-3 in league play, which places the team in a tie for the top spot in the division with Kent State. The last time the Zips were in action the team grabbed a 77-67 victory over Buffalo. It was the sixth win in the last seven matchups for Akron, which is 6-4 on the road.

The last time the Falcons were on the floor they suffered a 75-69 loss to Kent State. It was the second loss in the last three games for Bowling Green, which is a mere 6-8 in league action.

The Zips currently own a 23-18 edge over Bowling Green in the all-time series. Akron has won six of the last eight meetings, including a 71-45 decision over Bowling Green earlier this season.

The Falcons have struggled at the offensive end of the floor this season and head into this matchup netting just 62.5 ppg. Scott Thomas is netting 12.6 ppg for BGSU, and is also pulling down 6.3 rpg. Dee Brown is posting 10.9 ppg on the season, while Otis Polk is contributing 10.1 ppg, to go along with a team- high 7.4 rpg. The last time the Falcons were in action the team shot 48.0 percent from the floor, but finished on the wrong end of a 75-69 decision against Kent State. Polk led the way in the loss with 21 points and nine boards, while Thomas added 14 points and five assists.

The Falcons might be home, but Akron has enjoyed success at Anderson Arena over the past few seasons and should continue to play well against BGSU on its home floor this evening.
