Arizona (13-14) at Stanford (13-15)

GAME NOTES: The Stanford Cardinal continue their three-game homestand tonight, as they welcome the Arizona Wildcats to Maple Pavilion for a Pac-10 bout.

The Cardinal got their homestand started on Thursday, dropping a 68-60 decision to Arizona State. It marked the second straight home loss for Stanford, which had been 5-0 in Pac-10 play at Maples Pavilion. Now 7-9 within the conference, the Cardinal would need to sweep Arizona and California to finish with a .500 mark in the league.

As for Arizona, it has completely fallen apart down the stretch, suffering defeats in three straight and five of its past six outings. The team's struggles were evident this past Thursday, as the Wildcats were pounded 95-71 at Cal. With the loss, Arizona now has losing records both overall (13-14) and in league play (7-8).

The Wildcats lead the all-time series with Stanford, 50-29, and that includes a 76-68 victory in the first meeting of the season.

Arizona just couldn't keep up on Thursday, as California shot 56.7 percent from the floor, including 10-of-21 from long distance, in a 95-71 decision. The Wildcats were also outscored at the foul line, 17-10, and dominated on the boards, 34-23. Derrick Williams guided the squad in defeat with 17 points and six boards, but he also had a team-high five turnovers. On the campaign, Williams tops the roster in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding (6.8 rpg), while shooting 58.2 percent from the field. Nic Wise, a 37.4 percent three-point shooter, follows with 14.7 ppg and Kyle Fogg pitches in 10.4 ppg.

The Cardinal led 35-28 at the break, but shot just 35.7 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes of a 68-60 loss to Arizona State on Thursday. Stanford also struggled from long range in the second half, going just 2-of-15 compared to a 6-of-11 effort in the opening period. Landry Fields paced the Cardinal in the loss with 19 points and eight rebounds. It was another solid effort from Fields, who leads Stanford with 22.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg and 46 steals for the season. Jeremy Green is another solid scorer at 17.1 ppg and he is dangerous from beyond the arc, shooting at a 39.4 percent clip.

Stanford has been sound at home for the most part this season and should be able to bounce back with a big performance from the duo of Fields and Green tonight.
