Austin Peay (16-14) at SE Missouri State (7-22)

GAME NOTES: The Governors of Austin Peay travel to Cape Girardeu tonight for a regular-season ending Ohio Valley Conference tussle with the SE Missouri State Redhawks.

Austin Peay will wind up hosting a first-round OVC Tournament game if it wins tonight, but a loss could send the team on the road. APSU currently owns a 16-14 overall record, and the Govs have notched wins in three of their last five contests. The squad did, however, suffer an 83-73 setback on Thursday night at the hands of Eastern Illinois to fall to 10-7 in league play.

As for SE Missouri State, it has had little to be excited about this season with a 7-22 overall mark, and the club comes into tonight's game in the midst of a seven-game slide. The Redhawks' most recent setback came in the form of a 74-67 final against Tennessee State on Thursday which dropped them to 3-14 in conference.

APSU leads the all-time series with SEMO, 27-15.

Despite a game-high 23 points from Wes Channels, the Governors suffered a 10- point loss to EIU on Thursday night. APSU connected on a lackluster 43.1 percent from the floor during the contest, in addition to a disappointing 18- of-27 showing from the charity stripe. The Govs were outscored in the paint ) (40-20), and were outrebounded as well (39-30). Anthony Campbell tallied 13 points in the losing effort for APSU, while Tyrone Caldwell finished with 10 points. The Governors average a healthy 72.8 ppg on the season, but have yielded 72.7 ppg to the opposition. Channels paces the squad with his 16.9 ppg, while Campbell has been responsible for 15.6 ppg. John Fraley sits on the cusp of a double-digit scoring average with 9.1 ppg, and he also owns a team- best 7.8 rpg.

The Redhawks converted a miserable 27.1 percent of their field goal attempts in Thursday's seven-point loss to Tennessee State, negating a career-high 30- point effort from Marland Smith. The Redhawks edged TSU in the battle on the boards by a 45-40 margin, but they were guilty of 11 turnovers. Smith grabbed six rebounds during the meeting, and Cameron Butler added 10 points to go with six boards off the bench. SEMO averages just 64.1 ppg this season, thanks in part to a mediocre .411 shooting percentage. The club boasts just two players with a double-digit scoring average, beginning with Smith and his 10.6 ppg. He is joined by Anthony Allison and his 10.1 ppg.

APSU should be able to earn itself a rare road victory here, as the Governors have far more at stake than the lowly Redhawks. Expect the visitors to take this one rather easily.
