Chattanooga (14-16) at Western Carolina (20-10)

GAME NOTES: The Chattanooga Mocs and the Western Carolina Catamounts close out the regular season in a Southern Conference test at the Ramsey Center this afternoon.

Chattanooga comes in off an 80-74 loss at Appalachian State on Thursday night. The Mocs have dropped six of their last seven games and are now at 14-16 overall and 6-11 in the SoCon's North Division. A win today would assure Chattanooga of the third seed out of the North for next week's conference tournament. A loss would likely put them in a tie with one of the three teams below them in the standings to determine their postseason seeding. The Mocs are a dismal 2-10 on the road.

Western Carolina comes in off a 61-44 homecourt win over Samford on Thursday night. The Catamounts have split their last four games and stand at 20-10 overall. At 10-7 in the SoCon's North Division, Western Carolina is assured of finishing second in the North and will get a bye into the quarterfinals of the conference tournament, regardless of the result of today's game. The Catamounts are 13-2 at the Ramsey Center this season.

The Mocs scored an 80-67 win when the two teams met in Chattanooga on January 28th. Chattanooga now leads the series 48-16.

Ricky Taylor scored 22 points for Chattanooga in its Thursday-night loss. Ty Patterson finished with 10 points, while Keegan Bell added 10 assists. Appalachian State shot 48.3 percent from the floor for the evening. Patterson leads the Mocs in scoring at an even 15.0 ppg, good for sixth in the Southern Conference. He's shooting 41.6 percent from the floor, but just 61.4 percent from the foul line. Taylor is also scoring in double figures at 11.7 ppg despite shooting just 40.3 percent from the floor. Ridge McKeither is leading the team at 6.0 boards per contest, while Bell is second in the SoCon in assists at 4.8 apg. The Mocs are shooting 42.8 percent from the floor as a team, but just 61.6 percent from the foul line. Chattanooga is scoring 69.5 ppg, while allowing 71.4 ppg at the other end of the floor.

Brandon Giles scored 19 points to lead Western Carolina to its win on Thursday. Keaton Cole added 11 points for the Catamounts. Richie Gordon provided 10 points and five rebounds, while Brigham Waginger added five assists. The game was tied at 26 at halftime before Western Carolina took over in the second half. Giles remains the Catamounts' leading scorer at 12.2 ppg. He's shooting 41.8 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from outside the arc. Jake Robinson is next on the scoring list at 11.6 ppg, while shooting 44.3 percent from the floor, and 41.1. percent from long range. Mike Williams is also in double figures at 10.3 ppg. Harouna Mutombo is the leading rebounder at 4.9 rpg, while Waginger, at 4.5 apg, is third in the conference in that category. He has a solid assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.5-to-1. The Catamounts are shooting 45.1 percent from the floor, but just 63.5 percent from the foul line. They're scoring 74.4 ppg, while allowing 68.6 ppg defensively.

Chattanooga has a seeding at stake, but the Catamounts will have cause to celebrate.
