Massachusetts (10-17) at Dayton (18-9)

GAME NOTES: A pair of teams trying to avoid a three-game losing streak will meet at UD Arena tonight, as the Dayton Flyers play host to the Massachusetts Minutemen.

UMass has lost two straight after winning its previous two games, most recently falling to Saint Louis last weekend, 69-56. The road has not been kind this season to the Minutemen, who are just 3-11 outside of Amherst. Following tonight's tilt, they'll play at La Salle on Wednesday, then host Rhode Island next Saturday to close out the regular season.

The Minutemen's road woes bode well for a Dayton squad that has won 13 of 14 games at UD Arena this season. Still, UMass snapped Dayton's 13-game home win streak in 2008, and in 2007 the Minutemen snapped the Flyers' 14-game home win streak. UMass will travel to Richmond on Thursday night, before ending the regular season at home against Saint Louis next weekend.

UMass has won the last four meetings with Dayton to take an 8-7 lead in the head-to-head series.

Massachusetts couldn't stop the bleeding during a couple of runs by Saint Louis last weekend, as the Billikens put together a 13-0 run in the first half and a 12-2 run in the second half. Ricky Harris led all scorers with 23 points for UMass, while Terrell Vinson scored 19 in the loss. The rest of the team, however, managed just 14 combined points, as the Minutemen shot 39.3 percent as a team. Harris has supplied most of the offense throughout the season, as he averages 19.3 ppg. Anthony Gurley is registering 14.3 ppg, while Vinson is tallying 9.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. The Minutemen have done a solid job on the boards, as they are out-rebounding opponents by an average of 4.0 rebounds per tilt. But they often lag defensively and are allowing 74.5 ppg.

Dayton registered a season-low 41 points in Wednesday's 49-41 loss to 20th- ranked Temple. In fact, it was the program's seventh-lowest scoring total since 1950. Temple was held to 32.1 percent shooting on its home floor, but the Flyers managed to shoot just 26.3 percent for the game. They had only 13 points at halftime after an ugly 5-of-31 effort from the floor in the opening half. Chris Wright registered 12 points and 13 rebounds, though he was the team's only player in double figures. On the season, Wright is putting up 14.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per contest, while Chris Johnson is right on his heels with 12.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg. However, a gap of 4.2 ppg separates Johnson and third-leading scorer Marcus Johnson (8.0). The Flyers make their living by playing pesky defense, as they've held foes to 39.4 percent shooting and 61.4 ppg.

Neither one of these teams lit up the scoreboard the last time out. Dayton has lost its last three road games, but the Flyers are a completely different squad at hostile UD Arena.
