GAME NOTES: Two of the worst teams in the Sun Belt Conference will collide this evening when the Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans host the New Orleans Privateers at the Jack Stephens Center.
The last time the Privateers were on the floor the team fell to 3-14 in conference play with a 63-56 setback to Arkansas State. It was the ninth loss in the last 10 games for New Orleans, which is just 2-10 on the road this season.
As for the Trojans, they are coming off their sixth consecutive loss, as they were defeated by Troy, 76-73. Arkansas-Little Rock, which is also 3-14 in league play, has just seven wins on the year, but all seven have come at home.
Earlier this season the Privateers grabbed a thrilling, 67-66 overtime win over the Trojans. With that victory, the Privateers now own a solid 21-14 edge over UALR in the all-time series.
Producing at the offensive end of the court has been a major problem for the Privateers all season long, as the team is netting just 58.9 ppg. Charles Carmouche is the only player netting double figures on the season, as the guard comes into this game with 12.4 ppg. The offensive woes for UNO continued in the team's recent loss to Arkansas State, as the Privateers netted just 56 points behind a lackluster 37.0 percent shooting effort. Quincy Diggs tallied 12 points in the loss, while Carl Blair and Jaroslav Tyrna posted 11 points apiece. As for Carmouche, he finished with just seven points on a 2-of-8 effort from the field.
The Trojans have also dealt with issues offensively, as the team is currently producing just 66.8 ppg, behind a 42.0 percent shooting effort. Solomon Bozeman is pacing the team on the season with 14.1 ppg and 114 assists, while Alex Garcia-Mendoza is posting 11.3 ppg, to go along with 4.9 rpg. The Trojans actually put forth a solid effort in their last matchup, netting 73 points, but despite the strong showing the team still fell to Troy. UALR shot 46.4 percent from the floor in the matchup and was paced by Bozeman's 23-point effort. Courtney Jackson added a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Matt Mouzy tallied 13 points as well.
Neither team has played well offensively, but all of UALR's success has come at home. Expect the Trojans to earn their fourth league win this evening.
