North Texas (20-8) at UL Monroe (11-17)

GAME NOTES: North Texas looks to claim the title in the West Division of the Sun Belt Conference this afternoon when the Mean Green battle the UL-Monroe Warhawks at the Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

The Mean Green are currently 12-5 in league action and with a win today the team will claim the West title. The last time the Mean Green were on the floor they grabbed a 65-57 victory over UL-Lafayette. It was the seventh straight win for North Texas, which earned its fourth straight 20-win campaign.

As for the Warhawks, they are coming off a 73-71 setback to UL-Lafayette. It was the third straight loss for ULM, which is a mere 6-11 in conference action.

In regard to the all-time series between the two schools on the hardwood, the Mean Green currently hold a 27-18 edge over ULM.

The Mean Green have been a dangerous bunch offensively, as the team is netting 75.1 ppg, behind a 46.5 percent shooting effort. Josh White is leading the team with 14.8 ppg and 103 assists, while Tristan Thompson is posting 14.0 ppg. Eric Tramiel is netting 12.9 ppg, while George Odufuwa is helping out with 11.6 ppg, and a team-best 10.3 rpg. The last time the Mean Green were in action the team only scored 65 points, but that was enough for them to get past UL-Lafayette. North Texas shot 48.9 percent from the floor in the matchup and was paced by Thompson's 16-point effort. Odufuwa added a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, while White and Tramiel tallied 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Warhawks have been nothing special offensively and head into this game netting just 67.7 ppg. Dynile Forbes has been the best player on the court for ULM, as the guard is posting 12.2 ppg. Tony Hooper is the only other player averaging double figures, as the guard is helping out with 11.0 ppg. The last time the Warhawks were on the floor the team scored 71 points, but still lost to UL-Lafayette. UL-Monroe shot 47.1 percent in the contest and was led by Tommie Sykes, who exploded for 27 points. Forbes added 12 points and seven boards, while Hooper finished with nine points in the loss.

The Mean Green are clearly the better team in this matchup and should have no trouble claiming the West with a win tonight.
