Northern Illinois (9-18) at Eastern Michigan (15-13)

GAME NOTES: The regular season is winding down in the Mid-American Conference and the Eastern Michigan Eagles will try keep pace for the top spot in the West Division when they host the Northern Illinois Huskies.

The last time the Huskies were on the floor the team snapped a 10-game losing skid with a 67-65 victory over Central Michigan. It was just the fifth league win on the year for NIU, which is a meager 3-11 on the road this season.

The Eagles are currently 7-7 in conference play, and sit one game behind Ball State for the top spot in the division. Eastern Michigan has won both meetings against Ball State, and that includes a 72-67 decision over the Cardinals on Wednesday.

The Huskies have dominated the all-time series against EMU, posting a 46-27 mark, which includes a 77-69 win earlier this season.

The Huskies' struggles this season can be attributed to their play offensively, as the team is netting just 68.1 ppg behind a pedestrian 409 percent shooting effort. Xavier Silas has been one of the few bright spots for NIU, as the guard is netting 19.5 ppg, to go along with 5.3 rpg. Darion Anderson has done a little of everything for the Huskies, posting 10.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg and 92 assists. The last time the Huskies were on the floor it was Anderson who played the role of hero, as the guard connected on a shot as time expired to give the Huskies a win over Central Michigan. Anderson overcame his nine turnovers by finishing with 23 points and five assists. Silas added 17 points for NIU, which shot 48.1 percent from the floor.

The last time the Eagles were on the floor the team only shot 37.3 percent, but still finished with 72 points in a victory over Ball State. Brandon Bowdry led the way with a double-double of 16 points and 13 rebounds, while Carlos Medlock and Antonio Green added 15 points apiece. Justin Dobbins finished with 12 points, eight boards and five blocks in the win. Bowdry has been the best player on the floor for Eastern Michigan throughout the season and comes into this game averaging 16.6 ppg and 9.8 rpg. Medlock, who is leading the team with 105 assists, is netting 15.6 ppg, while Dobbins is posting 11.9 ppg, to go along with 5.8 rpg.

The Eagles have more to play for in this contest and should come out with that mindset. With a home crowd behind them as well, look for the Eagles to soar to victory.
