GAME NOTES: Mid-American Conference action will take place this evening when the Buffalo Bulls host the Ohio University Bobcats at Alumni Arena.
The last time the Bobcats were on the floor the team grabbed a thrilling, 70-68 victory over Miami-Ohio. It was the second straight win for Ohio, which is now 6-8 in conference play.
Buffalo fell to 8-6 in MAC action with a 77-67 setback to Akron on Wednesday. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for Buffalo, which is a mediocre 7-4 at home this year.
The Bobcats have dominated the all-time series against Buffalo, winning 21 of the 27 meetings. Earlier this season Ohio pounded Buffalo by a 99-77 margin.
Tommy Freeman was the hero in the team's last matchup, as the guard drilled a three-point basket in the final seconds of regulation to give the Bobcats a thrilling two-point win over Miami-Ohio. Freeman finished with 19 points in the contest, while DeVaughn Washington led the way with 25 points. Armon Bassett tallied 10 points, while D.J. Cooper dished out nine assists. Bassett has been the best player on the floor for Ohio, as the guard is netting 15.2 ppg. Cooper, who is leading the team with 163 assists, is also netting 13.9 ppg. Freeman and Washington are contributing 10.4 and 10.3 ppg, respectively for Ohio, which as a whole is netting 74.0 ppg.
The Bulls were ice cold in their last contest, as they shot a meager 34.4 percent from the floor, and finished 3-of-18 from behind the arc. The poor shooting led to a 10-point loss against Akron. Rodney Pierce led the way in defeat with 19 points, while Calvin Betts tallied a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds. Pierce and Betts have been the top two players on the year for Buffalo, as Pierce is leading the team with 18.9 ppg, to go along with 83 assists. As for Betts, he is contributing 11.3 ppg, while also grabbing 7.7 rpg. As a whole, the Bulls come into this matchup averaging a respectable 73.3 ppg.
The Bobcats have dominated this series, but with homecourt advantage, look for the Bulls to earn a victory this evening.
