Princeton (16-8) at Columbia (10-15)

GAME NOTES: Coming off a devastating loss, the Princeton Tigers take aim at the Columbia Lions tonight in an Ivy League tilt at Levien Gym.

The Tigers had a chance to make their move in the Ivy League last night, but instead suffered a 50-47 setback to Cornell. It was a crucial loss, as Princeton is now 7-3 in the conference and two games behind Cornell for the top spot. Since the Tigers, who have dropped two straight, lost both times to Cornell this season, their Ivy title hopes are all but gone now.

Columbia, on the other hand, is coming off a thrilling 56-55 victory over Penn last night. The win put a stop to a two-game slide and improved the Lions to 10-15 overall and 4-7 in Ancient Eight play.

As for the all-time series, Princeton holds a 138-84 advantage over Columbia and that includes a 55-45 victory in a meeting earlier this month.

The Tigers were outscored at the foul line, 22-7 and that was deciding factor in a 50-47 loss at Cornell last night. Princeton didn't help matters by shooting only 38.3 percent from the field, including just 4-of-19 from long distance. Dan Mavraides scored 13 points and grabbed seven caroms to lead the team in defeat, while Kareem Maddox and Pawel Buczak chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Douglas Davis, however, had an off night, as he finished with just four points and missed all six of his three-point tries. Despite the effort, he still remains the team's leading scorer (12.5 ppg) and a 40.8 percent three-point shooter for the season. Mavraides nips at his heels with 12.1 ppg and he is the team's top rebounder at 4.7 rpg.

Brian Grimes hit an 18-foot jumper with 2.7 seconds remaining, giving Columbia a dramatic 56-55 win over Penn last night. Grimes finished the night with 10 points and eight rebounds, while Noruwa Agho led all scorers with 23 points. Agho is one of the most dangerous players in the Ivy and the 46.2 percent three-point shooter leads the Lions in scoring (16.9 ppg) and steals (36) on the campaign. He is the only player on the roster scoring in double figures for the Lions, who are managing only 60.8 ppg as a team.

The Tigers are the more balanced team and should be able to bounce back with a win over the Lions tonight.
