Tulane (7-19) at U-A-B (22-5)

GAME NOTES: The UAB Blazers begin their final homestand of the season, as they host the Tulane Green Wave today in a Conference USA matchup at Bartow Arena.

With just three games left in the regular season, the Blazers are tied with Memphis for second place and trail Texas-El Paso for first by just two games at 10-3. Since UAB wraps up its season against both Memphis and UTEP, it still has a shot at the C-USA title. Winners of three straight, the Blazers most recently bested UCF, 53-49, on Wednesday to improve to 22-5 overall.

Tulane on the other hand, has gone just 2-11 within the conference and both wins came over last-place Rice. The Green Wave bring a five-game slide into the bout and that includes a 58-55 setback to Marshall a week ago.

As for the all-time series, UAB holds a 19-12 advantage over Tulane and that takes into account a 58-49 victory in the first clash of the season.

The Green Wave are paced on the season by Kris Richard, who has been slowed by injury of late, but is still managing 12.3 ppg to lead all scorers. Kevin Sims, who has also missed time due to injury, follows at 11.7 ppg and Kendall Timmons has improved his average from 8.0 ppg to a team-high 12.2 ppg in C-USA play. In the team's last game, David Booker more than doubled his season averages with 19 points and eight boards for Tulane, but his effort went to waste in a loss to Marshall. Timmons added 10 points and six boards for the Green Wave, which made only 36.0 percent of its attempts from the floor.

In a defensive battle, UAB came way with a four-point victory by holding UCF to a dismal 32.1 percent shooting from the floor on Wednesday. Offensively, Dexter Fields led the way for the Blazers with 13 points on 4-of-9 long-range buckets, while Elijah Millsap had 10 points and 10 boards. It marked the 14th double-double of the season for Millsap, who tops the club with 15.9 ppg and 9.4 rpg for the season. Howard Crawford is next in line with 12.3 ppg, while Jamarr Sanders contributes 10.9 ppg and 4.8 rpg.

With Millsap leading the way, expect the Blazers to handle Tulane in this affair.
