Western Kentucky (18-12) at F-I-U (7-23)

GAME NOTES: The regular season will come to a close tonight for Western Kentucky and FIU, as the Golden Panthers host the Hilltoppers at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

The Hilltoppers are catching fire at the right time and head into this contest with a five-game winning streak. The last time Western Kentucky was on the floor the team grabbed a 78-69 overtime win over Florida Atlantic, pushing its league mark to 11-6 on the year.

As for the Golden Panthers, they have dropped their last seven contests, including a 74-71 setback to Middle Tennessee on Thursday. The loss to the Blue Raiders dropped FIU to a mere 3-15 in conference action.

The Hilltoppers have dominated the all-time series against FIU, winning 23 of the 27 matchups, including an 81-64 decision earlier this season.

The last time the Hilltoppers were in action the team scored 78 points in an overtime win over Florida Atlantic. WKU shot 48.4 percent from the floor in the matchup and was paced by Jeremy Evans who finished with a double-double of 19 points and 17 rebounds. AJ Slaughter also tallied 19 points for WKU, while Steffphon Pettigrew tallied 16 points. Sergio Kerusch posted a double-double of 11 points and 12 boards in the win. On the season, the team is being paced by Slaughter, who is netting 17.9 ppg, to go along with 130 assists. Pettigrew is contributing 14.9 ppg and 6.0 rpg, while Kerusch is posting 13.9 ppg, to go along with 7.0 rpg.

The Golden Panthers fought hard in their last matchup, but suffered a slim three-point loss to Middle Tennessee. FIU shot a pedestrian 41.5 percent from the floor, but committed 16 turnovers in the loss. Phil Gary led the way with 18 points, while Tremayne Russell and Marvin Roberts tallied 14 and 12 points, respectively. Roberts is currently pacing the team with 15.8 ppg, and is also grabbing 5.0 rpg. As for Gary, he is chipping in 10.0 ppg for FIU, which is producing a mediocre 68.4 ppg on the season. What has hurt the Golden Panthers has been their play defensively, as the team is surrendering 77.0 ppg.

The Hilltoppers are clicking at the right time and even though the team is on the road, look for Western Kentucky to grab its sixth consecutive win.
