Yale (11-17) at Harvard (19-6)

GAME NOTES: The Harvard Crimson shoot for a school-record 20th win this season when they entertain the Yale Bulldogs tonight in an Ivy League matchup at Lavietes Pavilion.

The storied Harvard program last won 19 games in a season back in 1945-46 and thanks to a 91-71 thrashing of Brown in Cambridge last night, the squad is assured a winning record in league play for the first time since the 1996-97 campaign when it turned in a 10-4 mark versus the rest of the Ivy schools.

As for the Bulldogs, they snapped a brief two-game slide on Friday night with a 55-45 win at Dartmouth, the team's third consecutive road date. The 45 points by the Big Green were the fewest scored by any Yale opponent this season.

Harvard won the first meeting between the two teams earlier this month by a score of 82-79 in overtime on the road, which means the all-time series now favors the Bulldogs by a count of 112-67.

Michael Sands registered the first double-double of his career on Friday night as he tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds in Yale's win at Dartmouth. Also scoring in double figures for the Bulldogs was Austin Morgan who dropped in a team-best 14 points as he sank 3-of-5 shots behind the three-point line. The usually reliable Alex Zampier had a night to forget as he missed all seven of his three-point shots and was a mere 4-of-15 from the floor for his nine points. Zampier is one of the top scorers in the conference this season with his 17.3 ppg overall, his average in Ivy League bouts down at 15.4 ppg as he shoots just 34.5 percent from the field and a miserable 11-of-58 behind the three-point line now. Sands, who plays just over 25 minutes per contest, is responsible for 10.7 ppg and 5.8 rpg as the top performer on the glass right now. After 28 games, Yale still ranks among the worst in the nation in three- point shooting at a mere 28.9 percent, converting a minuscule 26.1 percent out on the perimeter in league tilts.

Harvard went from shooting 55.3 percent from the field in the first half to a staggering 62.5 percent after the break as it crushed Brown by 20 points at home last night. Brandyn Curry cranked out 21 points, five assists, five steals and four rebounds as he shot 4-of-5 behind the three-point line, while Oliver McNally came in off the bench to record 14 points as he made good on 4- of-6 out on the perimeter. Christian Webster accounted for 11 points and 3- of-4 beyond the arc as the team overall converted 12-of-19 three-point tries. In the last four games the Crimson have had a different leading scorer each time out, but for the season the main focus on offense has been Jeremy Lin with his 16.4 ppg. A 51.6 percent shooter from the floor, Lin is also responsible for 115 assists and 62 steals, showing off his ball-handling prowess at both ends of the floor for a team that is now outscoring opponents by almost nine points per game.

With 10 wins in 12 tries at home this season and able to sleep in their own beds last night, the Crimson certainly have the upper hand in this meeting. While Harvard probably won't be able to duplicate its efforts out on the perimeter again, still expect a substantial win by the home team.
