GAME NOTES: The regular season in the Southern Conference will come to an end for two schools, as the UNC Greensboro Spartans host the Georgia Southern Eagles this evening at Greensboro Coliseum.

The last time the Eagles were on the floor the team grabbed a 98-88 victory over Elon. It was the third win in the last four games for Georgia Southern, which is a meager 6-11 in conference action.

The Spartans fell to 5-12 in Southern Conference play with a 60-56 setback to Davidson in their last contest. It was the sixth loss in the last seven games for UNCG, which is a miserable 3-11 at home this year.

The Spartans took a 9-8 lead in the all-time series against Georgia Southern earlier this season with an 84-76 victory over the Eagles.

The Eagles exploded in their last matchup, as they scored 98 points in a win over Elon. Georgia Southern shot a sizzling 55.6 percent from the floor and also connected on 13-of-25 attempts from behind the arc. Antonio Hanson, who connected on 9-of-15 attempts from long range, poured in 39 points for Georgia Southern, while Ben Drayton tallied 18 points. Willie Powers added a double- double of 14 points and 10 assists in the contest. Powers has been the best player on the floor for Georgia Southern, netting 14.8 ppg, to go along with a team-best 162 assists. Hanson is contributing 13.3 ppg for the Eagles, who soar into this matchup averaging 70.6 ppg, behind a 43.2 percent shooting effort.

The Spartans were ice cold in their last matchup, as they scored just 56 points in a loss to Davidson. UNC Greensboro shot just 39.6 percent from the floor and finished 5-of-15 from long range. Kendall Toney led the way with 16 points in the loss, while Kyle Randall and Brian Cole tallied 15 and 14 points, respectively. Ben Stywall has been the only consistent threat on the court for UNC Greensboro, as the big man is pacing the team with 14.0 ppg and a team-best 10.3 rpg. No one else is producing double figures on the year, but Randall is netting 9.4 ppg, to go along with 2.5 apg. As a whole, the Spartans come into this contest netting a woeful 63.3 ppg, behind an equally poor 38.3 percent shooting effort.

The Spartans have struggled at home and offensively, so look for the Eagles to continue to play solid basketball and soar to another league win.
