GAME NOTES: A share of the West Division title in the Mid-American Conference is on the line this evening when the Eastern Michigan Eagles host the Central Michigan Chippewas at the Convocation Center.
Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan are both tied with Ball State in the West, so if Ball State is victorious in its last regular season game, the winner of this matchup will share the division title. However, if Ball State suffers a loss, the winner of this matchup will claim the outright title.
The last time the Chippewas were on the floor, the team pushed its league mark to 8-7 on the year with a 74-66 decision over Western Michigan. It was the second win in the last three games for Central Michigan, which is just 4-11 on the road this season.
As for the Eagles, they have won five of their last seven games, including two in a row. The last time Eastern Michigan was in action the team pushed its league mark to 8-7 with a 66-60 victory over Northern Illinois. The majority of the success for EMU has come at home where the team is 10-3 on the year.
The Chippewas own a 94-86 advantage in the all-time series against Eastern Michigan, and that includes a 71-63 victory over the Eagles earlier this season.
Producing at the offensive end of the floor has been an issue for Central Michigan, which is netting just 65.0 ppg, behind a pedestrian 41.2 percent shooting effort. Jordan Bitzer and Robbie Harman are the only two players averaging double figures on the season, as Bitzer is netting 14.8 ppg, to go along with 5.0 rpg, while Harman is contributing 14.8 ppg and a team-best 81 assists. The last time the Chippewas were on the floor the team grabbed a victory over Western Michigan. Central Michigan shot 45.6 percent from the floor and was once again led by Bitzer and Harman, who both tallied 22 points apiece. Bitzer also pulled down 10 rebounds in the win, while Antonio Weary chipped in nine points.
The Eagles have been led by a trio players this season, beginning with Brandon Bowdry, who is averaging 16.4 ppg and 9.8 rpg. Carlos Medlock, who is pacing the team with 111 assists, is contributing 15.9 ppg, while Justin Dobbins is posting 12.1 ppg, to go along with 6.0 rpg. Despite their success, the team as a whole is producing a lackluster 66.0 ppg. The last time the Eagles were in action the team scored 66 points, but still managed to grab a victory over Northern Illinois. Eastern Michigan shot just 35.3 percent from the floor, and only made 26-of-48 attempts from the foul line. Medlock was outstanding in the win, netting 25 points, to go along with 11 rebounds and six assists. Dobbins also posted a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Bowdry tallied nine points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles are playing strong basketball at the right time and with a home crowd behind them, look for Eastern Michigan to at least grab a share of the title.

Where the players come to play and STAY.
