GAME NOTES: The Maryland Terrapins visit the Bryce Jordan Center to tangle with Penn State as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The Terps wrapped up the regional and national rounds of the 2K Sports Classic with a 5-2 mark. They are coming off back-to-back wins at home, the most recent of which was a 76-57 triumph over Elon on Friday. Maryland won't return home to the Comcast Center until December 8th, where they are 5-0 this season and have won 14 straight overall.

Likewise, all five of Penn State's wins so far have come at home. The Nittany Lions were last in action on Sunday, as they easily knocked off Furman 70-49. Following tonight's tilt, they'll play two more at home before going back on the road.

Maryland leads the head-to-head series 8-7, although these teams have not met on the hardwood since 1990.

The Terps survived a sluggish first half in their last outing, as they trailed by as many as 11 in the opening period before cutting the deficit to three at the break. But they nearly doubled up Elon in the second stanza (45-23) and shot 51.4 percent from the floor, while holding the Phoenix to 25-percent shooting. Jordan Williams paced Maryland with 24 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks -- all game-highs. He is averaging a double-double on the season with 17.4 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, while Cliff Tucker is next in line with 13.9 ppg. Adrian Bowie tallied 14 points, eight rebounds and seven assists in the win, while Sean Mosley finished with 10 points and seven boards. After the game, head coach Gary Williams said he was very bothered by the fact that his team failed to play 40 minutes of basketball, which won't cut it when the Atlantic Coast Conference schedule begins.

Talor Battle headlines the Penn State attack with 18.3 ppg. Jeff Brooks is shooting a cool 67.3 percent from the field and is averaging 16.0 points and a team-best 7.5 boards per contest, while David Jackson is netting 11.7 ppg. PSU put on a shooting clinic, hitting 12 of its first 16 three-point attempts en route to a season-best 63.2-percent shooting from outside the arc. Battle knocked down three of those treys and led all scorers with 19 points to go along with six assists. In the process, he also became the first player in school history to record at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists for his career. Eighth-year head coach Ed DeChellis also reached a milestone with his 100th career victory at Penn State. His team dominated all facets, holding a 33-19 rebounding advantage while also holding Furman to 37.5-percent shooting for the game.

Maryland was the co-champion of the ACC a year ago, but the Nittany Lions set a Big Ten record last year by winning their third straight ACC/Big Ten Challenge game. All signs point to this matchup being another classic in the annual series.
