Oklahoma (3-3) at Arkansas (3-1)

GAME NOTES: The Arkansas Razorbacks will look to rebound off their first loss of the season when they welcome a scuffling Oklahoma Sooners team to Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday.

Arkansas was tripped up by UAB at home last Friday in a 70-65 overtime thriller. The Razorbacks trailed by as many as seven late in the second half before a key bucket from Julysses Nobles and a buzzer-beating three-ball by Jeff Peterson forced the extra session. UAB was quickly back in front, though, and built up an eight-point lead in OT to walk away with the win. Senior Delvon Johnson paced the Hogs with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Peterson tallied 13 points and Nobles and Rotnei Clarke each added 10 in defeat.

Oklahoma comes into Fayetteville with three straight losses under its belt, most recently suffering a 68-64 loss to Chaminade last Wednesday. It was the last of an underwhelming three-game stretch at the Maui Invitational for OU. The Sooners dropped games to then No. 8 Kentucky and Virginia as well. Sophomore Steven Pledger entered the tournament leading the team with a 16.7- point scoring average, but was held to 4.3 ppg in Maui on 5-for-18 shooting and a 1-for-10 ledger from three-point range. As a team, OU shot 30.0 percent from long distance and an awful 58.7 (27-for-46) percent from the charity stripe. The Sooners were also outrebounded by an average of 4.0 boards over the three games.

Arkansas leads the all-time series, 13-11, but Oklahoma has won six of the last seven meetings. That includes a 67-47 triumph last year in Norman.

Clarke paces the Razorback scoring attack with 15.8 points per game thanks in large part to his 14 three-pointers. The junior guard is shooting 41.2 percent from long distance. Johnson, at 6-9, gives Arkansas both a decent scoring option and an effective body in the paint with his 10.8 points and team- leading 8.8 rebounds per game. He's added 14 blocks in the first four games as well. The Razorbacks are doing a lot of things well early on, posting a plus- six turnover margin and a whopping 17.8-point scoring advantage. The Hogs are holding opponents to a meager 34.9 percent shooting and 56.2 points per game.

Cade Davis, the lone Sooner senior on this year's squad, now leads OU at 16.7 points per game. His 19 three-pointers this season have him shooting 41.3 percent from beyond and landing 3.2 per game, tops in the Big 12. His 5.2 rebounds per game is tied for second on the team. Andrew Fitzgerald is also averaging 5.2 boards and stands second among OU players at 13.3 points per contest. Pledger is now averaging 10.5 points. Overall, the Sooners have hit 45.6 percent of their shots and 35 percent from three-point range. Despite a poor showing in Hawaii from the free throw line, a collective 71.7 percent accuracy from the stripe shows they're capable. Arkansas may not be flashy but they do things right, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Oklahoma is still going through some growing pains with a young team, as evidenced by its showing in Maui. The Hogs will be ready to play after a tough loss to UAB and figure to send the Sooners reeling to a fourth straight loss.
