Pepperdine (2-5) at Pacific (4-2)

GAME NOTES: Pepperdine will try to improve its luck on the road as the Waves pay a visit to the Pacific Tigers for a non-conference tussle tonight at the Spanos Center in Stockton, California.

Pepperdine has fallen in all three of its road contests thus far, but also fell at home the last time out as the Wave played host to Northern Arizona, losing 88-74 on Sunday afternoon.

Pacific will play at the Spanos Center for only the second time this season. The only other occasion took place the last time the Tigers hit the hardwood back on November 20th, defeating William Jessup by a 70-61 margin.

This matchup marks the 55th meeting between these two Golden State schools, with Pacific currently holding a 30-24 advantage in the series.

Pepperdine saw junior guard Keion Bell return to the lineup only to contribute a season-high 33 points, but his efforts were ultimately spoiled as the Waves fell to Northern Arizona, 88-74, on Sunday. Bell, who sat out the last two games due to a wrist injury, also grabbed six rebounds and handed out six assists in the defeat. He has been a stand-put star in the five games he's played in, leading the team with 24.2 points per game. Senior forward Mychel Thompson stands second on the team with 16.1 ppg. Thompson netted 16 points in the loss to Northern Arizona while contributing a team-high in both rebounds (seven) and blocked shots (three). Pepperdine had sufficient time to take the game over in the opening 20 minutes as there were nine ties and 12 lead changes before the Waves' defense fell apart, letting NAU end the first half on a 9-0 run and take a 47-37 advantage into the intermission.

Pacific opened its home schedule with a 70-61 win over William Jessup last Saturday, a victory that saw four different Tigers finish with 10 or more points. Sam Willard led all players with 18 points on the night while tearing down 11 rebounds to round off the game's only double-double performance. The senior forward leads the way for the Waves on the season as the team's only double-digit point producer, sinking 17.7 ppg. Willard also paces the team by recording 11.2 rpg. Pacific trailed 32-28 at the intermission after shooting a lackluster 33.3 percent from the floor in the opening half. The Tigers fought back in the second stanza, starting the half on a 13-5 run. Pacific let its opponent sneak back into the affair as the Tigers would trail 46-45 before exploding for a 21-4 run that put the game out of reach.

Expect another big performance from Bell, but also expect the Waves to continue their struggles on the road as Pacific will use the balance of its roster to secure the home victory.
