Utah State (4-1) at Denver (1-5)

GAME NOTES: Two teams off to vastly different starts collide tonight, as the Utah State Aggies square off with the Denver Pioneers in non-conference action at Magness Arena.

The Aggies have enjoyed a successful start to the season, losing just once in five outings. Since falling narrowly to BYU on the road, Utah State has bounced back with three consecutive wins. The most recent of those triumphs came this past Saturday, a 56-54 win over Northeastern.

Denver, meanwhile, has come out on top only once in six tries thus far. After opening the season with four loss in a row, the Pioneers finally picked up a win with a 69-51 decision over Alcorn State. The team, though, was unable to build off that momentum, falling 65-52 in its last outing on Saturday.

As for the all-time series, Utah State holds a 52-35 lead over Denver, though the Pioneers own a 25-20 edge when playing at home.

Brady Jardine recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, leading the Aggies over Northeastern this past weekend. It marked the second straight double-double for Jardine, who is averaging one on the season with 11.0 ppg and 10.4 rpg. Tai Wesley added 14 points and eight rebounds in the win, while Brockeith Pane chipped in with 13 points. On the season, Wesley is averaging 17.0 ppg to lead the team and he is also grabbing 7.2 rpg. As a team, the Aggies are netting 70.0 ppg, but they have really thrived on defense, limiting foes to just 38.9 percent shooting from the field. Last game, Utah State gave up just 54 points while holding Northeastern to a 38.3 percent shooting performance from the floor.

The Pioneers went just 2-of-10 from three-point range and were outscored at the foul line, 27-16, in losing to Boise State over the weekend. Denver also had trouble hanging onto the ball, turning it over 17 times. The loss ruined an otherwise terrific performance by Chase Hallam, who scored 26 points and made 10-of-12 field goals. He currently ranks second on the team in scoring with an average of 14.0 ppg. Brian Stafford actually paces the Pioneers with 15.5 ppg, but he was limited to just six points last game. The team's third ranked scorer is averaging just 6.3 ppg, so there is a big drop off after Chase Hallam and Stafford.

Utah State clearly has the better team from top-to-bottom and despite playing on the road, the Aggies should come away with the victory tonight.
