Western Kentucky (3-3) at Vanderbilt (5-1)

GAME NOTES: The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers kick off a three-game road trip tonight, as they do battle with the Vanderbilt Commodores in non-conference action at Memorial Gym in Nashville.

The Toppers come into the contest seeking a rebound following a heart-breaking 87-85 double-overtime loss to South Carolina on Saturday. It marked the second loss in a row for WKU, which now sits at a level 3-3 overall. The Toppers, who are 1-0 in true road games, will continue their road trip with a visit to Memphis on Saturday.

On the flip side, Vandy is in the midst of a four-game homestand that has started off with consecutive victories. The Commodores have won three straight games overall since losing their lone bout at West Virginia. On Saturday, Vandy topped Appalachian State, 86-73, to move to a perfect 3-0 at home.

Vandy leads the head-to-head series with WKU, 13-11, but the Toppers scored a 76-69 victory in last season's meeting.

The Toppers blew a 10-point halftime advantage and missed a couple of chances to win the game in the closing moments, as they dropped an 87-85 double- overtime decision to South Carolina over the weekend. WKU hurt itself with a sub par 13-of-21 effort at the foul line and 19 turnovers that resulted in 23 points for South Carolina. Juan Pattillo paced the team in defeat with a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds. It was a big time effort from Juan Pattillo, who averages a double-double with 16.7 ppg and 11.2 rpg. Steffphon Pettigrew is tied for the team-lead in scoring at 16.7 ppg and he was right on that number with 16 points in the loss to Vandy. He also grabbed 12 caroms, while Sergio Kerusch checked in with 13 points and eight rebounds. Kerusch has been a solid performer thus far, averaging 13.2 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

The Commodores shot 51.5 percent from the floor, including a 9-of-22 effort from downtown, on the way to a victory over Appalachian State this past weekend. Vandy handed out 20 assists to 12 turnovers and controlled the boards, 37-30, as well. Leading the way was John Jenkins, who turned 21 points thanks to a 5-of-8 showing from three-point range. Festus Ezeli tacked on 18 points, and Lance Goulbourne had 17 to go with eight boards in the winning cause. On the season, Jenkins is averaging a team-high 19.7 ppg and he is also shooting 37.0 percent from beyond the arc. Ezeli and Jeffery Taylor are tied for second at 11.3 ppg, with Ezeli also ripping down a team- best 8.8 rpg.

The Commodores have also been tough on their home floor and they should continue that trend with a win over the Hilltoppers tonight.
