Nevada (19-4) at Hawaii (13-9) (ET)

GAME NOTES: With their 16-game win streak now a memory, the Nevada Wolf Pack try to work their way back into the win column tonight as they clash with the Hawaii Warriors in Western Athletic Conference action at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Heading into their home meeting versus Idaho last Saturday, the Wolf Pack were preparing to celebrate the longest win streak in program history, but instead the squad was handed a 72-68 setback by the Vandals in Reno. The defeat was the first in conference play for Nevada in nine games and the first setback overall since November 25.

Meanwhile, the Warriors played their third straight road date last weekend and came up big in overtime against San Jose State, recording an 83-81 triumph for their third win in the last four outings. In terms of conference play, Hawaii is now 5-3 in the WAC and that has the program third in the standings behind only Nevada and New Mexico State (6-2).

The Pack leads the all-time series by a count of 19-11 over Hawaii, taking the first meeting of the season by a 77-74 score last month in Reno. Over the years Nevada has had trouble winning in Honolulu however, sporting a record of 4-10 out on the island.

Nevada ruled the glass against the Vandals, holding the visitors to a mere four offensive rebounds, but aside from that the Wolf Pack couldn't get into gear shooting the ball as they finished at 42.9 percent from the floor overall, 6-of-24 behind the three-point line and 14-of-25 at the charity stripe. Deonte Burton accounted for 18 points, Jerry Evans 14 and Olek Czyz 12 points and nine rebounds, his efforts on the glass second only to Dario Hunt who cleared 11 before fouling out. In conference play the Pack is outscoring the competition by eight points per game, even while shooting a disappointing 62.2 percent at the free-throw line. Burton (18.7 ppg) and Malik Story (14.2 ppg) have been clutch from three-point range for the squad, registering 51 of the unit's 71 triples, not to mention handing out a collective 53 assists in order to keep the offense moving.

Trailing by 14 points in the second half, the Warriors fought back and took the game against San Jose State to overtime last Saturday before securing the two-point victory at The Event Center. Joston Thomas recorded a career-high 29 points as he made good on 12-of-16 shooting from the floor, including 11 points during a critical 16-0 run by the Warriors. Thomas added a team-best 12 rebounds, handed out four assists and blocked a couple of shots as the Warriors overcame 18 turnovers. Vander Joaquim registered a double-double of his own with 17 points and 10 boards, while Zane Johnson and Hauns Brereton tacked on 19 and 10 points, respectively. Joaquim is currently averaging a double-double in conference play with his 18.3 points and 11.0 rebounds per outing, his scoring efforts coming in second only to Thomas who is putting up 19.0 ppg while also clearing 7.9 rpg and handing out close to three assists per contest.

In forcing WAC foes into barely 10 turnovers per game, the Warriors have been leaving the door open for those teams to give them a hard time and should the Hawaii defense again be lackluster, the Wolf Pack will surely take advantage.
