GAME NOTES: Two cellar-dwellars in the Atlantic 10 Conference face off this evening trying to gain some momentum, as the Charlotte 49ers welcome the George Washington Colonials to Halton Arena.

George Washington is one of just three A-10 teams to have yet to crack the 10- win plateau and the team has a conference record of 4-8. The Colonials have been especially bad away from Washington D.C., losing nine of 11 games on the road. They dropped a 73-66 decision at home to Saint Joseph's on Saturday and have now lost six of their last seven contests overall.

Charlotte has not fared much better, owning a 12-13 overall record and a 4-8 mark in the A-10. The 49ers' highlight this season came in the form of a five- game win streak in November and December, but the bright spots have been few and far between since. The 49ers dropped two games on the road last week to Dayton and Richmond, the latter in a 53-52 heart-breaker.

With regard to the all-time series, GW hold a 14-9 advantage. The Colonials have won five of the past six meetings over the 49ers, including a 60-52 victory on January 21.

George Washington found itself down 17 points at the half versus Saint Joseph's in Saturday's loss, and even an impressive 16-of-32 shooting effort in the second half couldn't lift its overall field goal percentage higher than 42 percent. Tony Taylor led four teammates in double figures with 14 points and David Pellom tallied 12 points and 11 boards for his second double-double of the season. On the year, GW has the second-worst scoring offense in the A-10, putting up just 63 ppg on 42.5 percent field goal efficiency. Tony Taylor has been the Colonials' best player, scoring 13.7 ppg and handing out 4.5 apg. Lasan Kromah is the only other player averaging double digits with 11.1 ppg and he also leads the team with 5.5 rpg. Overall however, George Washington is one of the worst rebounding teams in the A-10, grabbing 32.8 rpg with a rebounding margin of -1.8.

Charlotte struggled from the field against Richmond on Saturday, connecting on just 39.2 percent, but found itself leading in the final minute thanks to holding the Spiders to 38.3 percent shooting overall. In the end however, it was just one bucket that mattered, which was Cedrick Lindsay's with 14 seconds left to give Richmond the lead and the win. Chris Braswell continued his run as one of the conference's best forwards with a 16-point, 13-rebound performance in the setback, his sixth double-double of the season. Braswell ranks in the top-10 in the league in both scoring (15.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg) while also shooting an impressive 49 percent from the floor. Javarris Barnett (12.1 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and DeMario Mayfield (10.6 ppg, 7.0 rpg) also do more than their fair share. Despite the impressive trio, Charlotte is one of the least efficient teams in the conference, connecting on only 41 percent of its total shots.

Though neither team has been impressive this season, Charlotte has both a wider array of scoring options as well as the home court advantage, giving the 49ers the edge in the battle of A-10 bottom feeders.
