Oklahoma State (13-14) at Oklahoma (13-13) (ET)

GAME NOTES: The Oklahoma Sooners aim to save some face and snap a six-game losing streak Wednesday at the Lloyd Noble Center as instate rival Oklahoma State comes to town for a Big 12 matchup.

Oklahoma suffered its eighth loss in the last nine games overall this past weekend, falling 80-69 at Iowa State. The Cyclones got a balanced effort and pulled away from the visiting Sooners early in the second half, using a 15-6 run to open up an 18-point advantage. ISU shot 55.6 percent from the floor over the final period, building on a nine-point halftime lead after OU hit at just a 38.2-percent clip in the first half. The Sooners shot 43.5 percent overall and got 16 points from Cameron Clark -- one of five players in double figures for OU. Both Carl Blair and Sam Grooms had 12 points in the loss as Oklahoma tumbled to .500 overall for the first time this season and a meager 3-11 in Big 12 play.

Oklahoma State produced a rousing 90-78 win at home Saturday over Texas as senior Keiton Page poured in a career-best 40 points in a stirring performance. Page was a perfect 20-for-20 at the free-throw line, buried half of his eight three-point attempts and gave the Cowboys something to smile about after enduring a harrowing stretch of four games against the conference's top four teams. Although OSU came away with just one victory in those contests, it came ready to play against a perfectly capable Texas team, racing out of the gates for a 51-39 lead at the half behind 27 points from Page and a scorching 68.4-percent shooting clip. The Cowboys also received 18 points from Le'Bryan Nash in moving to 6-8 in the Big 12.

Oklahoma State took a 72-65 victory from the Sooners in Stillwater January 9 but has lost in its last seven trips to Norman and in nine of 10 overall. Oklahoma has captured seven of the last 12 overall meetings and is 79-26 all- time in Norman versus OSU. OU leads the all-time series by a 127-94 count.

The Cowboys struggle to break even in the competitive Big 12 but have shown they're capable of breaking out at certain times. Page, of course, plays a big part in that equation, posting a team-high 15.7 points per game with 70 three- pointers on 35.2 percent shooting. While the percentage leaves something to be desired, the two totals sit among the conference's best in their respective categories. Nash chips in a healthy 13.4 ppg and grabs 4.9 rebounds per game while Markel Brown checks in at 10.7 ppg and 5.3 boards. However, on most nights the Cowboys simply struggle to keep pace with their league counterparts. OSU puts up just 67.5 ppg on a league-worst 42.0 percent shooting while the defense lets up 68.0 ppg on 41.6 percent shooting. Oklahoma State helps pick up some of that slack at the charity stripe, posting the Big 12's second-best free-throw percentage at 75.2 percent. On the flip side, OSU owns the conference's worst rebounding margin at minus-5.0.

The Sooners have the league's fourth-best scorer in junior Steven Pledger, who sits at 16.8 ppg while adding a healthy 64 triples on 42.1 percent shooting. Pledger also hauls in 4.1 rpg and shoots a high percentage from the field (46.3 percent) but he can't do it all. Playing a pretty good second fiddle is a pair of fellow juniors in Andrew Fitzgerald and Romero Osby. Fitzgerald averages 12.7 ppg, 4.8 rebounds and stands fourth in the Big 12 with a 48.5 shooting percentage. Osby chips in 12.2 ppg, shoots 47.1 percent from the floor and sits third in the league in rebounding with 7.5 per contest. Overall, Oklahoma manages to put up 70.1 ppg but on just 43.5 percent shooting. The defense struggles to hold up its end of the bargain, allowing an identical shooting percentage but also a league-high 69.0 ppg. The Sooners hold down a pretty good margin on the glass at plus-3.7, grabbing 37.2 boards per game. Clark helps that number hold up with a 4.1-rpg average while scoring 8.2 ppg.

Oklahoma State has managed to post pretty impressive wins over Iowa State and Texas this month but both of those were in Stillwater. Oklahoma has a lot of pride, and it figures to be on full display Wednesday, but the Cowboys have proved to be the better team in the long haul and should win a close one in Norman.
