T-C-U (15-11) at Air Force (13-11) (ET)

GAME NOTES: The Air Force Falcons take aim at their third straight win tonight when they welcome the TCU Horned Frogs to Clune Arena for a Mountain West Conference bout.

TCU is having a solid season at 15-11 overall but in a conference where every team has a winning record, it has not stuck out in the crowd with a 5-5 league ledger. The Horned Frogs registered a pair of wins over Colorado State and nationally-ranked UNLV before dropping a last-second heart-breaker to Boise State on Saturday, 65-64.

After experiencing a six-game losing streak, Air Force fired head coach Jeff Reynolds two weeks ago and replaced him with Dave Pilipovich on an interim basis. After losing his first game, Pilipovich led the Falcons to back-to-back wins last week, including a 58-56 triumph over nationally-ranked San Diego State on Saturday. The win lifted Air Force to 13-11 overall and 3-7 in the conference, tying it with Boise State for last place.

Air Force has a slim lead in the all-time series with TCU, 8-7. The Falcons had taken two straight games before the Horned Frogs claimed a 59-56 triumph on January 25.

Chris Williams had a stellar game for TCU on Saturday with 21 points and 10 rebounds, but missed the front end of a one-and-one situation with six seconds left in the game and leading by one. That gave Boise State one last possession, where Anthony Drmic drew a foul and drained a pair of free-throws with 0.9 seconds left to hand the Horned Frogs the defeat. The squad struggled for the most part in the defeat, shooting just 40.4 percent from the floor with Amric Fields being the only other Horned Frog to score in double digits with 13 points. Normally, TCU has a solid offense as it averages 71.5 ppg on 43.9 percent field goal shooting. Hank Thorns has been the team's best player, ranking in the top-10 in the MWC in both scoring (13.4 ppg) and assists (4.6 apg). The balanced scoring attack also has J.R. Cadot (10.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg), Garlon Green (10.2 ppg) and Fields (10.1 ppg) to rely on a nightly basis.

Air Force has the worst offense in the conference, netting just 61.7 ppg, but has a very stout defense, allowing opponents to score only 59.4 ppg on 40.1 percent field goal shooting. Even with the offense failing to score 60 points for the second straight game, the Falcons were able to pull off the win on Saturday by holding San Diego State to just 34.6 percent shooting overall and 3-of-16 from three-point range. Michael Lyons was the standout for Air Force, scoring 27 points on 9-of-19 field goal shooting for his third consecutive 20- point performance. Lyons is the team's leading scorer at 16 ppg and he shoots an impressive 47.7 percent from the field, though he has missed some time due to injury. Mike Fitzgerald adds 10.5 ppg, but no other Falcon cracks the double-digit plateau in points. Air Force's small lineup is prone to losing the battle on the boards as it ranks last in the conference in rebounding margin (-4.5).

Air Force seems to have found new life under new direction, and will continue its resurgence at home against the Horned Frogs.
