John Shurna posted 15 points for Northwestern (15-7, 4-6 Big Ten), which got 12 points apiece from Luka Mirkovic and Michael Thompson.

Manny Harris and Darius Morris both had 11 points in defeat for Michigan (11-11, 4-6).

Northwestern shot 56 percent from the floor in the first half, including 7- of-12 from three-point range, and the club led 35-30 at intermission.

Strong defense enabled the Wildcats to seal the victory, as they held the Wolverines to 25 percent shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes.

Northwestern finished the game with 21 assists against only 12 turnovers.
