Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Shamari Spears poured in a game-high 31 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Charlotte 49ers to a 72-68 victory over the George Washington Colonials at Halton Arena.

Dijuan Harris added 11 points and dished out eight assists in the win for Charlotte (17-5, 7-1 A-10), while Phil Jones tallied 10 points off the bench. Charles Dewhurst collected a game-high 11 rebounds as well for the 49ers.

Damian Hollis scored 23 points to lead the way for George Washington (12-9, 2-6), while Lasan Kromah chipped in 11 points to go with six boards in the losing effort.

The Colonials were held to just 41.9 percent from the field during the opening period of play, allowing Charlotte to take a slight 35-32 lead into the break.

In the second half, the 49ers converted 52.4 percent of their attempts from the field en route to the four-point victory.
