Rashad Reed netted 14 points for Indiana State (14-9, 6-6 MVC), while Carl Richard added 11. Jordan Printy netted 10 points in the victory.

Illinois State (15-8, 6-6) received a game-high 21 points from Dinma Odiakosa in the loss.

The Sycamores maintained a slim 36-34 advantage heading into the intermission behind 46.4 percent shooting from the floor, including five three-pointers.

The Redbirds shot poorly in the second stanza, connecting on just eight of their 22 attempts from field-goal range.

Indiana State was able to seal the victory behind solid free-throw shooting, sinking 17-of-19 from the charity stripe in the affair.
