Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - Wesley Witherspoon poured in 29 points as the Memphis Tigers defeated the UAB Blazers 85-75 in a Conference-USA showdown at the FedEx Forum.

Elliot Williams added 25 points for Memphis (16-6, 6-2 C-USA) in the victory.

UAB (18-4, 6-2) was led by Elijah Millsap's 18 points, while Jamarr Sanders netted 16 points and Howard Crawford added 13. Aaron Johnson and George Drake provided healthy efforts, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

The Blazers held a slim 32-31 advantage at the break as they connected on 44.8 percent (13-of-29) of their shots in the first half.

The Tigers took over in the second stanza, hitting on 60.0 percent (18-of-30) of their field-goals.

Memphis was impressive from the free-throw line, sinking 25 of its 28 shots from the charity stripe en route to the victory.
