Wilmington, NC (Sports Network) - Ed Nixon scored 19 points to lead the VCU Rams to a 73-60 victory over the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in Colonial Athletic Association action at Trask Coliseum.

Joey Rodriguez added 18 points for VCU (16-5, 8-4 CAA), while Larry Sanders collected a team-high 10 rebounds.

Chad Tomko netted 11 points for UNCW (7-16, 3-9), while John Fields finished with just nine points and 11 boards.

The Rams held UNC Wilmington to a 37.9 percent shooting effort and went into the break with a 40-31 advantage.

In the second stanza VCU shot a sizzling 51.9 percent from the floor and went on to win by a 13-point margin.

VCU was solid defensively, limiting the Seahawks to a 35.8 percent shooting effort in the matchup.
