Denton, TX (Sports Network) - Eric Tramiel scored 17 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the North Texas Mean Green to an 86-69 win over the Florida Atlantic Owls in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at the Super Pit.

Tristan Thompson also added 16 points for the Mean Green (14-8, 7-5 SBC), while George Odufuwa tallied 14 points and nine rebounds in the win. Alzee Williams and Shannon Shorter also got involved, scoring 12 and 10 points, respectively.

FAU (12-11, 8-4) was paced by Greg Gantt, who scored a game-high 18 points in a losing effort. Raymond Taylor also added 14 points for the Owls, while Alex Tucker netted 10 points.

North Texas got off to a fast start, shooting 64.5 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 45-27 lead at the break.

The Mean Green kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 21- of-24 free-throws en route to a 17-point victory.

Free-throw shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as North Texas outscored FAU 25-5 from the charity stripe.
