Ypsilanti, MI (Sports Network) - Anthony Simpson scored 19 points to lead the Kent State Golden Flashes to a 75-68 win over the Eastern Michigan Eagles in a Mid-American Conference battle at the Convocation Center.

Tyree Evans and Rodriguez Sherman also got involved for Kent State (16-7, 7-2 MAC), adding 14 points apiece in the win.

Eastern Michigan (11-11, 3-6) was paced by Carlos Medlock who scored a game- high 22 points in a losing effort. Brandon Bowdry also added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles, while Justin Dobbins tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Kent State took control of the contest in the first half, shooting 42.9 percent from the floor to grab a 32-20 lead at the break.

The Golden Flashes put the game away in the second stanza, knocking down 16- of-25 free-throw attempts en route to a seven-point victory.

The Kent State bench was the difference in this game, outscoring the EMU reserves 31-8 on the night.
