Blacksburg, VA (Sports Network) - Malcolm Delaney scored 21 points and dished out five assists as his Virginia Tech Hokies edged the North Carolina Tar Heels, 74-70, in an ACC tilt.

Dorenzo Hudson netted 17 points for Virginia Tech (17-4, 4-3 ACC), which received 14 points from Jeff Allen.

Ed Davis tallied 15 points in the setback for North Carolina (13-9, 2-5). The Tar Heels also got 14 points from John Henson and 12 points from David Wear.

UNC led 35-33 at intermission after holding Virginia Tech to 35.3 percent shooting from the floor in the first half.

The Hokies hit three more shots from the floor than the Tar Heels in the second half, good enough to earn the narrow win.

Virginia Tech turned the ball over only 10 times in the tilt, nine fewer giveaways than North Carolina.
