Final Score: Ohio 65 - Toledo 58
Toledo, OH (Sports Network) - Tommy Freeman scored a team-best 17 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Ohio University Bobcats posted a 65-58 overtime win against the Toledo Rockets in a Mid-American Conference tilt at Savage Arena.
Reggie Keely stepped up with a double-double consisting of 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Bobcats (12-10, 3-5 MAC) as they won for the third time in the last four outings. Also coming up with a double-double of his own was D.J. Cooper with 10 points and 11 boards, helping him to overcome just 3-of-12 shooting from the floor, while Kenneth van Kempen checked in with 10 points as well.
The Rockets (3-20, 0-9), losers of 13 in a row, were paced by Justin Anyijong with a game-high 20 points and a team-best 10 rebounds, while Jake Barnett and Jordan Dressler pitched in with 19 and 14 points, respectively, not to mention seven rebounds apiece.
Both teams had a lot of trouble shooting the ball from the field in the first half and with a mere six field goals in 23 attempts, Toledo found itself trailing at the break, 25-18.
In the second half the Bobcats struggled with a mere 1-of-9 shooting beyond the arc and a troubling 7-of-14 at the free-throw line, which opened the door for the game to be taken to overtime tied at 55-55 when Barnett made good on a three-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining in regulation. Even though he played the hero in the final seconds, Barnett finished the night a mere 2- of-11 beyond the arc.
In the extra frame Freeman converted a pair of free throws with 3:36 remaining to put Ohio ahead for good as the visitors feasted at the charity stripe (8- of-12) in the period while the Rockets couldn't find their rhythm from the floor (1-of-8) on their way to the seven-point setback.
The Bobcats won the meeting despite hitting on only 34.4 percent from the field, 4-of-20 behind the three-point line and 19-of-33 at the charity stripe.
