San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Michael Williams nailed a three-point attempt and connected on a foul shot in the final seconds of overtime to give the San Francisco Dons a thrilling, 72-70 victory over the San Diego Toreros in West Coast Conference play at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
Williams finished with 20 points for San Francisco (9-14, 4-4 WCC), but it was Dior Lowhorn who led the way for the Dons, netting 26 points, to go along with six rebounds. Kwame Vaughn added 11 points in the victory.
Brandon Johnson paced San Diego (9-15, 2-6) in the loss with 25 points and five assists, while Chris Lewis posted 13 points.
The Toreros went into the break with a 34-27 lead after posting a 54.2 percent shooting clip from the floor, which included a 6-of-11 showing from behind the arc.
San Diego fell apart in the second half however, netting just 8-of-21 attempts from the field, but fortunately Lewis connected on a three-point shot in the final seconds of regulation to tie the game at 58, sending the matchup into overtime.
In the extra session, the Dons connected on three of their five three-point shots, and that includes the game-winner by Williams.
San Francisco's bench scored 38 points in the contest, while San Diego's reserves tallied just nine points.
