Final Score: Yale 71 - Cornell 90
Ithaca, NY (Sports Network) - Jeff Foote recorded a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds as he helped lead the Cornell Big Red to a 90-71 win over the Yale Bulldogs in Ivy League action at Newman Arena.
Jon Jaques posted a game-high 17 points for the Big Red (19-3, 5-0 Ivy) as they won their seventh in a row. Ryan Wittman and Louis Dale accounted for 15 points apiece as well for the home team.
The Bulldogs (8-14, 2-3), losers of two straight, were paced by Alex Zampier with 11 points, even though he shot just 2-of-10 from the floor and missed all five of his three-point tries. Michael Sands and Reggie Willhite tacked on 10 points each.
In the first half Cornell knocked down 8-of-15 shots behind the three-point line, compared to just 2-of-10 for the visitors, allowing the Big Red to move out to a 46-34 lead at the break.
In the second half Yale tried to fight back by hitting on 55 percent from the field, but again the squad struggled out on the perimeter (1-of-6), making it that much easier for Cornell to pick up the 19-point win.
Cornell scored the first points of the game and never looked back, even as the team shot just 11-of-19 at the charity stripe.
