Valparaiso, IN (Sports Network) - Brandon Wood scored a 18 points to lead the Valparaiso Crusaders to a 74-70 win over the Detroit Titans in a Horizon League match up at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Michael Rogers also added 13 points for the Crusaders (12-13, 7-6 HL), while Brandon McPherson and Cory Johnson chipped in with 12 points apiece.

Detroit (14-10, 7-6) was paced by Chase Simon, who scored a game-high 20 points in a losing effort. Xavier Keeling also added 17 points and nine rebounds, while Eli Holman netted 13 points for the Titans.

Valparaiso took control of the contest in the first half, shooting 46.7 percent from the floor to take a 43-24 lead at the break.

The Crusaders kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 7- of-10 free-throw attempts en route to a four-point victory.

Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as the Crusaders outscored the Titans 21-9 from long distance.
