Richmond, VA (Sports Network) - Bradford Burgess scored 16 points as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams topped the Old Dominion Monarchs, 70-58, in Colonial Athletic Association action.

Larry Sanders netted 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for the Rams (17-5, 9-5 CAA) and Kirill Pishchalnikov also finished with 14 points. Joey Rodriguez added eight assists, as the Rams won their fourth straight and seventh in their last eight starts.

Kent Bazemore scored 12 points to lead Old Dominion (18-7, 10-3). Frank Hassell added 10 points, while Ben Finney pulled down eight rebounds.

ODU led 33-31 at halftime after shooting 13-of-27 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, The Rams struggled from long range in the first half, making just 2-of-8 attempts.

VCU stepped up after halftime, shooting 48.3 percent from the floor and going 9-of-11 from the foul line en route to the 12-point triumph.

The Rams turned the ball over just eight times, while the Monarchs were guilty of 16 giveaways.
