Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Kwamain Mitchell scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Saint Louis Billikens to a 68-65 win over the La Salle Explorers in an Atlantic 10 Conference clash at Tom Gola Arena.
Willie Reed also added 21 points and eight rebounds for the Billikens (14-8, 5-3 A-10), while Cody Ellis chipped in with 14 points off the bench.
The Explorers (11-12, 3-6) were paced by Jerrell Williams, who scored 21 points in a losing effort. Steve Weingarten also added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Yves Mbala Mekongo and Rodney Green chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Saint Louis took control of the contest in the first half, shooting 48 percent from the floor, to take a 34-32 lead at the break.
The Billikens kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 13- of-17 free-throws en route to a three-point victory.
Three-point shooting proved to be the difference in this contest, as Saint Louis outscored the Explorers 21-6 from long distance.
