Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Jahmar Young scored 25 points to lead the New Mexico State Aggies to a 94-82 victory over the San Jose State Spartans in a Western Athletic Conference tussle at the Pan American Center.
Jonathan Gibson added 20 points and passed out five assists in the win for New Mexico State (14-8, 7-2 WAC), while Troy Gillenwater tallied 19 points to go with 11 rebounds. Hamidu Rahman notched 11 points and collected 13 rebounds as well for the Aggies, while Wendell McKines chipped in 10 points to go with eight boards and five assists.
Robert Owens poured in a game-high 29 points to lead the way for San Jose State (12-11, 5-6), while Adrian Oliver scored 22 points. Chris Oakes got into the mix as well, finishing with a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort.
The Aggies shot at a solid 54.8 percent clip during the opening stanza to open a 49-42 halftime lead.
In the second frame, the Spartans were held to 40.0 percent from the floor as the Aggies captured a 12-point win.
