San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Robert Smith scored 16 points to lead the Santa Clara Broncos to a 59-43 victory over the San Diego Toreros in West Coast Conference action at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Raymond Cowels added 11 points in the win for Santa Clara (10-16, 2-7 WCC).

The Toreros (9-16, 2-7) went without a single double-digit contributor in the loss, and were led by Roberto Mafra, who tallied eight points off the bench.

The Broncos edged San Diego by a 26-24 margin heading into the break, following a respectable 45.5 percent effort from the floor during the opening frame.

In the second half, the Broncos held the Toreros to a meager 27.8 percent from the floor to capture a 16-point win.

In addition to a game-high 16 giveaways, the Toreros shot just 35.9 percent from the field in the loss.
