Final Score: Loyola-Maryland 62 - Manhattan 56
Riverdale, NY (Sports Network) - Shane Walker scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as he led the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds to a 62-56 win over the Manhattan Jaspers in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference battle at Draddy Gym.
Also having a strong game off the bench for the Greyhounds (12-12, 5-9 MAAC) was Jawaan Wright with eight points and five rebounds in a mere 13 minutes of action as the team won for the second time in as many games.
The Jaspers (8-16, 13-11) were paced by Darryl Crawford who registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, adding three blocks and three steals along the way in the team's eighth loss in nine games. Rico Pickett generated 19 points as well.
Both programs had a hard time shooting the ball from the field in the first half, converting less than 36 percent, but thanks to 8-of-10 at the free-throw line Loyola managed a slim 30-28 edge at the break.
In the second half free-throw shooting was again key for the Greyhounds as they supplemented their 34.6 percent effort from the floor with 13-of-17 at the stripe to come away with the six-point road win.
In addition to shooting only 35.7 percent from the field, Manhattan suffered with only 3-of-15 accuracy behind the three-point line and 14 turnovers.
