College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Greivis Vasquez had another outstanding home game against the North Carolina Tar Heels as he tallied 26 points and 11 assists in Maryland's 92-71 rout of the defending national champions in ACC play at the Comcast Center.

Vasquez converted 6-of-11 behind the three-point line on the afternoon for the Terrapins (16-6, 6-2 ACC) as they defeated UNC (13-10, 2-6) for the fourth time in the last five meetings. Also scoring in double figures for Maryland were Eric Hayes and Landon Milbourne with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The Tar Heels, losers of three straight and six of the last seven, were paced by Ed Davis who registered a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Marcus Ginyard posted a team-best 17 points, Deon Thompson 16 and Will Graves 11 points to go along with five rebounds in the losing cause.

North Carolina led by a point early in the first half, but it wasn't long before the Terps forged ahead and logged a 44-34 advantage at the break based on 9-of-16 shooting behind the three-point line.

In the second half Maryland was unstoppable with 59.4 percent shooting from the floor. The Tar Heels closed to within four points at 58-54, but the Terps simply ran away from there as they cruised to the 21-point win.

Not only did Maryland outscore the visitors in the paint, 42-26, the home team also made good on 12-of-23 shots beyond the arc, compared to just 5-of-16 for a North Carolina team that is now dangerously close to falling to the bottom of the league standings.
