Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - Donald Sims and Kellen Brand both had 16 points to lead the Appalachian State Mountaineers to a 75-69 victory over the UNC Greensboro Spartans in a Southern Conference showdown.

Josh Hunter pitched in 10 points and 11 rebounds for Appalachian State (14-10, 8-4 SoCon).

Kyle Randall netted 18 points in defeat for UNC Greensboro (5-19, 4-9), which received 16 points from Mikko Koivisto.

Appalachian State trailed 25-20 with eight minutes remaining in the first half, but the Mountaineers fought back to grab a 33-30 lead at halftime.

A key 7-0 run late in the ball game enabled the Mountaineers to claim their second straight win.

Appalachian State won the first meeting over UNC Greensboro by a 72-64 final three weeks ago, and the Mountaineers finished tonight's game with a 22-of-26 effort from the foul line.
