NCAA Game Summary - Tennessee at Vanderbilt

Final Score: Tennessee 71 - Vanderbilt 90

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Jeffery Taylor finished with 26 points, as 22nd-ranked Vanderbilt routed No. 12 Tennessee, 90-71, at Memorial Gymnasium.

Taylor also recorded seven rebounds and made 12-of-12 free throws for the Commodores (18-5, 7-2 SEC), who improved to 12-0 at home this season and extended their home winning streak to 17 games. They did so thanks in big part to their performance at the free throw line, where they made 37-of-43.

"We did a good job of boxing out tonight," Taylor said. "Great effort on boards and our big guys really were physical and pushed people around."

Jermaine Beal added 20 points as Vanderbilt also completed the regular-season sweep of the Volunteers (18-5, 6-3). The Commodores won at Tennessee on January 27.

J.P. Prince had 19 points and six boards to pace Tennessee, which had won its last three games. Wayne Chism added 16 points and seven boards in the loss.

"Vandy did a good job of shadowing Wayne and I when they were on defense," Prince said. "They denied us the ball, but they also shot for a high percentage which makes it tough for us to run our offense."

Vanderbilt jumped out to 10-2 lead and were ahead 19-4 following a jumper by Steve Tchiengang. Then, two Taylor free throws with 8:46 left made it a 30-10 game.

The Volunteers rallied to get within 36-25 on a jumper by Melvin Goins with 3:05 left, but Vanderbilt scored eight of the final 10 points of the half to take a 44-27 lead at the break.

Tennessee once again trimmed its deficit, as an eight-point burst had the Vols within 46-36 only three minutes into the second half. But a few minutes later, consecutive buckets from Beal, Taylor and A.J. Ogilvy began a 17-1 run that all but sealed the game for Vanderbilt.

Festus Ezeli ended the stretch with a pair from the line to make it 66-39, and the Commodores cruised over the final 12-plus minutes.
