Evansville, IN (Sports Network) - James Haarsma scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Evansville Purple Aces to a 65-62 victory over the Wichita State Shockers in Missouri Valley Conference action at Roberts Stadium.

Denver Holmes added 17 points for Evansville (7-17, 1-13 MVC), which snapped its 14-game losing skid.

Garrett Stutz netted 15 points for Wichita State (20-6, 9-5), while Demetric Williams posted 12 points in the loss.

Evansville held the Shockers to a meager 34.6 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half, and went into the break with a 30-20 lead.

In the second stanza the Purple Aces shot 50.0 percent from the floor, and went on to win by a three-point margin.

Evansville connected on 25-of-30 attempts from the foul line, while Wichita State made just 15-of-21 shots from the charity stripe.
